AFC WILD CARD PREVIEW
COLTS #7 AT BILLS #2
SATURDAY, JANUARY 9 AT 1:00 ET
LINE BILLS-6.5 O/U 51
WRITTEN BY MICHAEL BARON
The Bills come into the NFL playoffs on fire looking like true Super Bowl contenders with a record of 13-3. Had they not lost on a Hail Mary to the Cardinals on November 15th, they would be rolling into Saturday’s matchup on a 10-game winning streak.
The Colts had themselves a very good season at 11-5 while winning 6 of their last 8 games. They mostly struggled against quality opposition, with the exception of upsetting the Green Bay Packers, and feasted on a soft schedule.
Josh Allen took a huge positive turn in his progression and has become an MVP candidate. The addition of Stephon Diggs went a long way as he caught over 125 passes this season and essentially turned the Bills into an offensive powerhouse.
The Colts are very good as a team at a lot of things, but aren’t necessarily great at anything in particular so that may not be ideal for playoff success. Still, finishing 11-5 and barely making the playoffs speaks volumes of the strength and depth of the AFC this year.
The Bills strength is that they have the NFL’s best first-down passing game and the Colts greatest strength is that they no biggest weakness.
The Bills are top-to-bottom a better team than the Colts and have played better down the stretch but will they cover the spread and win by a touchdown or more?
